On August 28th, 2025, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) celebrates Emirati Women’s Day that annually recognizes and honors the contributions as well as achievements of Emirati women.

Under this year’s theme of ‘Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 years’, the Day  reflects Emirati women’s five decade-long, sustained achievements and community partnership. This year, it also marks the 50th anniversary of the General Women’s Union.

Recent figures quoted in the Emarat Al Youm newspaper reveal that the number of Emiratis working in the private sector has grown by 325 percent, while women now make up 66 percent of the government workforce. Women now represent 46 percent of the total labour force, with a 30 percent increase in Emirati women working in the private sector.
