Pakistani Author Faiqa Mansab Secures Major Italian Publishing Deal

A significant cross-border publishing deal highlights the global reach of culturally rooted storytelling

Pakistani novelist Faiqa Mansab has reached an exciting international milestone, with the Italian rights to her novel The Sufi Storyteller officially acquired by Newton Compton Editori, a prominent name in Europe’s publishing industry.

Established in 1969 in Rome, Newton Compton Editori has grown from producing affordable editions of classic literature into a major commercial publisher. Today, it is known for its diverse catalog, ranging from historical fiction to modern thrillers, and for its ability to bring compelling stories to a wide international readership. The acquisition of Mansab’s novel highlights the publisher’s continued interest in culturally rich and globally appealing narratives.

Sharing her thoughts on the achievement, Mansab expressed her excitement about collaborating with such a well-established European publisher. She also revealed that she is currently working on a follow-up to The Sufi Storyteller, which is expected to be released in 2027 and will function both as a sequel and a standalone work.

First published in 2025, The Sufi Storyteller explores themes of spirituality, identity, and memory, drawing inspiration from South Asian Sufi traditions while maintaining a universal emotional appeal. Its entry into the European literary market reflects a broader shift, as stories from Pakistan and the wider region gain increased recognition on the global stage.

Beyond the commercial success, this development carries a deeper significance. Mansab’s achievement serves as an encouraging example for emerging writers, demonstrating that stories rooted in local culture and heritage can resonate with audiences worldwide. It also challenges traditional perceptions of global literature, reinforcing the idea that diverse voices are becoming an essential part of international storytelling.
