OWN IT: The Power of Women at Work

Ellevate Dubai presents 2017 Forum

April 11th, 2017, Dubai (UAE) Ellevate Dubai is pleased to announce its upcoming 2017 Forum; a continuation of the annual event that has gained impressive momentum over the past few years with entrepreneurs and business leaders of both genders. Taking place on the morning of 30th of April (08:30am – 02:00pm) at The Address Dubai Marina, the 2017 edition ‘Own It: The Power of Women at Work’, will focus on creating lasting impact. The audience will build new skills, learn about evolving workplace norms, meet change makers, get inspired by peers, and become part of community that supports its members while they own it.

The Forum is set up as an action-packed morning comprising speeches, discussion panels, live interviews and structured networking groups, all designed to help the audience learn how to elevate themselves and others, by better managing their hard-earned wealth and improving their workplace. 250 like-minded professionals are expected at this gathering; they will represent a diverse range of industries and some of the most notable thinkers in their fields.

The floor will be opened by Rana Nawas, President, Ellevate Dubai, before leading into a keynote address by Sallie Krawcheck, Chair of Ellevate Network and CEO of Ellevest, a digital financial advisory platform for women. Sallie has been described as one of the world’s most influential executives in financial services, and she strives to demystify seemingly complex financial solutions for her audiences.

The finance theme is continued with a lively panel discussion titled, ‘Own your Finances’, featuring guests from leading UAE based financial and legal firms, looking at the imperative need for women to take ownership of their financial affairs. The panel will be followed by a fireside chat with Ola Doudin, Founder of Bitoasis; the MENA region’s first bitcoin wallet and exchange. As a tech entrepreneur, Ola presents the audience with two more ways to manage finances: set up a business, or invest it in a start-up.

The session will then break for networking, structured to allow guests to pre-select a meeting with representatives from Ellevate’s partner network, identifying those who share similar attitudes, interests or challenges in their professional path. The framework is designed to inspire action, with a follow-up session penned for one month after the Forum to chart progress and keep guests focused on “owning it”.

The Forum then holds a panel entitled, “Own your Workplace”, examining blueprints of corporate success, shining a light on stories of how males and females can change their own organizations for the better from within. The morning concludes with an uplifting segment on “The Glory of Failure”, featuring a rousing slam poet performance from Afra Atiiq, before closing with a networking lunch.

Ellevate Network believes in the positive impact of women in business. Their mission of this one-of-a-kind organization is to help women advance in the workplace, both for themselves and the greater good. The body strives to change the culture of business from the inside out, by investing in women. The Dubai Chapter has been particularly energetic in looking at the issues facing females in the Middle East, offering a range of chapter events offering networking and development tools to assist women to ‘ellevate’ their careers through a position of care, strength and leadership.

Rana Nawas, President of Ellevate Dubai said: “The Forum is our flagship annual platform to progress Ellevate’s mission and enhance the lives of working women across the UAE. We are excited about the 2017 theme of ‘owning it’, which is such a positive, affirmative message for females across the region, helping them recognize that change starts from within and that we all hold the power to take positive action in our working lives.”

The 2017 Forum is only possible with the support of corporate sponsors, and Ellevate Dubai is extremely grateful to have this support from GE, Pepsico and Thomson Reuters.
