in5, Young Arab Leaders Organise Panel Discussion to Mark International Women’s Day

Panellists address challenges to achieving gender parity during the event held in Dubai, UAE.

March 13th, 2018, Dubai (UAE): in5, a Dubai-based start-up incubator, and Young Arab Leaders (YAL), an independent non-profit membership network, joined forces to host a panel discussion in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Held on 7 March under the theme ‘Behind every successful woman is herself: You can have it all, but can you do it all alone?’, the session drew the participation of over 50 attendees.

The event got off to a flying start with an inspirational keynote speech by Mona Tavassoli, CEO of Mompreneuers ME. Sharing her insights on the concept of ‘having it all’ as a successful female entrepreneur, she admitted that she had to make several sacrifices to reach this point in her career. In addition, she noted that discovering one’s true passion played a crucial role in shaping a successful female leader.

Moderated by Helen Al Uzaizi, CEO of BizWorld UAE and active YAL member, the discussion addressed issues women often face in today’s business world. The panel comprised distinguished female leaders and local entrepreneurs including Lucy Chow, Director of the Women’s Angel Investor Network (WAIN), Medea Nocentini, Co-founder and CEO of Consult and Coach for a Cause (C3), and Arushi Joshi, Founder and CEO of AtCash Inc. The panellists encouraged the audience, regardless of gender, to join forces in promoting gender parity – a key theme of this year’s International Women’s Day.

The event concluded with a Q&A and an open networking session.

Nabra Al Busaidi, Executive Director of YAL, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with in5 in hosting today’s panel discussion that aligns with our goal to empower aspiring entrepreneurs – particularly the youth – through training and mentorship programmes and innovative initiatives, organised in partnership with relevant entities.”
